So it looks like the absence of Kabbalah in Alex Rodriguez’s life hasn’t been too much of a problem for Madonna. Over the weekend, both A-Rod and the Material Girl were in Mexico City to perform, but for different reasons. Madonna was continuing with her ‘Sticky And Sweet’ tour and Rodriguez was in town on the behest of Mexico’s richest man (which means he’s only 56% likely to get kidnapped) Carlos Slim, who built a sports complex he wanted christened by the Yankee third baseman. Yes, because why get a Mexican Major Leaguer like Jorge Cantu who’s beloved by the little kids when you can get a man who’s so stiff he tucks in his Ed Hardy shirts? Oh, maybe because Rodriguez just happened to be in the neighborhood of Nezahualcoyotl and decided to cash in some checks while he was unabashedly acknowledging he was following Madonna around like a sick puppy.

Rodriguez spent two hours Sunday teaching children to bat at a new sports center built on a landfill in the poor suburb of Nezahualcoyotl while Madonna prepared to perform for a sold-out second night in Mexico City as part of her “Sticky & Sweet” tour.

When asked what he thought about being in the city at the same time as Madonna, Rodriguez said it was “very good,” without elaborating.

It must feel good for Madonna that he’s doing all the heavy lifting in the relationship. Other than the initial hit she took when the story came out, the media’s been all up his butt about it. His Thanksgiving plans, his feelings on the matter, his inability to keep a relationship going (with his wife, children or Kabbalah). We have a feeling it’s all in her grand design which will eventually end up with him a pod person under the influence of religion like Tom Cruise… or eaten alive once he impregnates her. It’ll be exciting to find out which one.
