Juande Ramos Must Have A Great Agent—Gets Real Madrid Job After Tottenham Disaster

When Juande Ramos was sacked as Tottenham’s coach earlier this season, we thought it’d be a long time until he got another gig. Sure, he was super successful with Sevilla, but the stink of the last job tends to linger, especially when you have as bad a precedent as the Spurs gig was. But then something strange happened—Ramos’ name had begun popping up everywhere as a possible replacement all around the world. The most notable was the possibility of him taking the Chivas job, which was pretty amazing. But then the talk died down until this morning we see this face staring at us from the Guardian, and we think—no way. Yes guey. Juande Ramos has been taken in by no less than one of the most historic franchises in Spain, Real Madrid, to take over for their fired boss, Bernd Schuster.
They did watch the EPL matches, right? Maybe the fact they gave him a “short” contract shows that they did, not that it fazed Ramos.

In most of my previous jobs I’ve had short contracts,” Ramos said. “I’ll be staying until the end of the season. We came to a quick agreement and I’m delighted. If we come to the end of the season I’ll be delighted. Both sides are free to wait and see what happens.”

Yeah, let’s hope for Real’s sake it’s the English game that befuddled Ramos, and that he’s going to be reacclimated to the Spanish game real easily. Spurs are a historic team, but nothing like the team he just took over. You can wreck a Escalade and walk away shrugging your shoulders. But if you wrap a Ferrari Enzo around a tree, people are liable to take your keys away for good.
