Whas happened in sports last night.
- NFL: The New York Giants proved a lot of things yesterday, most importantly that they’re hands down the best team in football (and the lowest-key possible repeat Super Bowl winners ever). They shook off the loss of their number one receiver Plaxico Burress to an idiotic thigh shooting—more on this later—and beat their Washington Redskin division foes handily. Eli Manning even had his best game of the year, throwing for over 300 yards for the first time. Maybe what the team needed to succeed this year… was a little subtraction? [NY Daily News]
- MLS News: Can FC Barcelona and their friends trying to get an MLS team in Miami succeed? Only if they can show high fan interest… in Miami? We’ll take that as a no. [mls-rumors.net]
- EPL: Manchester United beat City yesterday in the “Mancunian derby,” but the biggest story may have been Cristiano Ronaldo getting red carded for being a petulant little boy on the pitch. Oh, if those only existed in real life… [Guardian UK]
- College Football News: Former Raiders head coach Lane Kiffin didn’t take long to find another job. He’s going to be introduced today as the new head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers football team. [Yahoo!]
- Movie News: Mark Wahlberg, pee-pee star (and we’re not talking about Boogie Nights). [Sun UK]
