We love Ozzie Guillen just as much as any other mustachioed man who resembles our uncle. One of the reasons is his abrasive nature towards those who badmouth him, his team or lima beans. But it’s rare that Guillen gets his dander up as much as he did yesterday when he was asked about his former pitcher Javy Vazquez’s comments during his introduction with the Atlanta Braves.
”Only thing I’m going to say is, it’s good to get away from the negativity and start fresh.”
Ah, for those who never busted out the “Oh No He Did’nt!”, feel free do it now. Or better yet, maybe let Ozzie do it for you.
”I was not happy about what he said,” Guillen said. ”I know Javy real well, and he has more class than that. I always say, ‘You can see people’s faces, but you never see their heart.’
”I would rather him say: ‘I hate Ozzie. I hope he [bleep]ing dies. That was the worst three years of my life.’ Be honest. But when you say that about the team, you’re talking about the clubhouse, the media, the fans, the general manager — because Kenny [Williams] put this team together — so you hurt a lot of people’s feelings. But I say, [bleep] feelings. Just win.”
You know what, Ozzie’s better than our uncle (sorry, Tio). Is there any other person who you’d want to read you a bed time story from scratch? It would start out as a tale of yore about a bunny and a grasshopper making friends, and end up as a harrowing tale about how much the grasshopper was an asshole to everyone and the bunny being a pussy who can’t seal the deal. Oh Tio Ozzie, we love you.
