Well, it looks like Michelle Wie isn’t going to have leave the confines of women’s golf to play against men. That’s thanks to the awesomely named Lana Lawless, a transgendered golfer who just won the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship in Nevada. Lawless took her first name from Lana Turner and her last most likely from her former life as a dude working the gang unit in Rialto, California. But before you go thinking that a former man who worked a CRASH unit is an automatic winner in hitting longer and harder than the women, think again. It seems that in order to be deemed lady enough to play by the USGA, transgendered players need to take reverse steroids. Let’s see Congress deal with that.
“I’ve lost muscle mass. I don’t have big guns (biceps). They give you a drug that stops you from producing testosterone. Your muscles atrophy. In about seven months, I went from 245 pounds to 175 pounds. I’ve gained back a little bit, but I feel like I don’t have any power.
But after reading about Lawless’ lawful past, we hope s/he didn’t lose any of her heart.
“Sure, I used to be a man. For 18 years, I was a cop for the city of Rialto, one of the most violent cities in Southern California. I worked the gang unit. I had a very tough and mean exterior. People didn’t want to mess with me.
“I had a hard exterior, but I was compassionate inside. I always let the gay guys go; they had enough drama in their lives.”
And with that, the city of Rialto now has hundreds of lawsuits from gangbangers who said their civil rights violated because the fact they weren’t gay led them to jail. Yeah, we think that Lana Lawless should really keep her past identity private.
