Arizona’s not exactly a hotbed for racial tolerance (remember that whole “We don’t want to celebrate MLK Day” thing?). So even as a larf, when Arizona Cardinals fans Rex Perkin and Ryan Hanlon burned various messages on the lawn of Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb’s home two days before Sunday’s game, maybe that wasn’t the best way to get the message across, even ones as dumb as what was actually seared into No. 5’s sod. Oh, and speaking of dumb… that’s exactly what two non-mastermind duo were as they left a vague clue as to who exactly did this dastardly deed.

The two men, Rex Perkin, 37, and Ryan Hanlon, 28, were arrested Saturday around 6 p.m., for using the fuel to kill the grass in the Philadelphia quarterback’s lawn and leave the messages., “Go Cards,” “Go Kurt,” and “I (heart) AZ.”

The Cardinals fans who left diesel fuel messages in the lawn of Donovan McNabb’s Chandler home also left something else - a box with a postage sticker that listed the suspect’s name and address.

We understand that the fan base is new to this, being able to taunt the other team in a meaningful game, but come on. The first rule is to destroy all the evidence, ironically by burning it. Live and learn, Cards fans, live and learn.
