Whas happened in sports last night.
- NFL: We remember going to a few Cardinals games back in the day, during the late 90s. The team played in a crappy stadium that would give you heat stroke if you sat in the bleacher-type stands too long… which you wouldn’t because they’d always get blown out by the Cowboys or whatever team was whipping up on them. Well, it looks like those days are over as the Cards advanced to the Super Bowl for the first time in its modern history by beating the Philadelphia Eagles. They’ll meet the Pittsburgh Steelers, who’ve been to many a SB, and who got there this year by winning a punch-your-face kinda game against the Ravens. The game will be played in Tampa in two weeks. [AZ Central, ESPN]
- NFL: The Tampa Bay Bucs fired Jon Gruden and GM Bruce Allen and replaced them with new head coach Raheem Morris and Mark Dominik, ages 32 and 37 respectively. [TBO.com]
- NFL: The Raiders may throw a wink over to their Defensive Coordinator Don Martindale to be their 90th coach in the last decade. [Contra-Costa Times]
- NFL: The Super Bowl ads this year? Yeah, they’re not going to be as fun as we remember them. [Sporting News]
- NBA: LeBron James? Never heard of him. [LA Times]
