Whas happened in sports last night.
- NBA: It’s must be nice for the Lakers when Pau Gasol shows up for these big games. But there he was last night, backing up Kobe Bryant to prove one team can’t count on one star anymore, like the Cleveland Cavaliers have with LeBron James (no, Ben Wallace doesn’t count). The game was pretty close until the closing minutes of the third quarter, which was caused by Bryant’s poor shooting night thanks to a dislocated finger he suffered at the beginning of the game. But Gasol led the charge with a 20/12/6 night and led Los Angeles over Cleveland for the win and a better record. Lakers 105, Cavaliers 88 [LA Times]
- Boxing: It looks like the Ricky Hatton/Manny Pacquiao fight might happend before the end of the decade (ha, think about it). [Guardian UK]
- Racing: It looks like the horses at Santa Anita shouldn’t look forward to being put out to stud. [LA Times]
- MLB: We’ll agree with The Big Lead—Cole Hamels is worth $10 MM less than Raul Ibanez? [Philly.com]
- World Baseball Classic: Catch World Baseball Classic fever… by checking out country’s provisional rosters. Um… yeah! [Sporting News]
