If anyone’s forgotten, Mickey Rourke is pretty crazy. So when we were watching the SAG Awards on Sunday (hey, we like the girls in the dresses), and Mickey Rourke told the world that he was going to wrestle Chris Jericho in Wrestlemania 25, we thought it was a case of his method acting going a little too extensive. Especially the part about tossing him “around the ring like tossed salad.” But hey, the man took staples and tacks to the back for our entertainment, so we let him have his imaginary fun. Well, that was until his reps decided that maybe the fans wouldn’t buy The Wrestler DVD if he, you know, didn’t show up to WM 25 without saying anything.

Paula Woods told The Associated Press on Wednesday night that Rourke will not wrestle WWE superstar Chris Jericho at Wrestlemania 25 in April at Houston’s Reliant Stadium.

Woods wrote in an e-mail that the Oscar-nominated actor “will not be participating in Wrestlemania. He is focusing entirely on his acting career.”

Yes, and also getting lowballed from Marvel for the upcoming Iron Man sequel. We loved The Wrestler, and other than Sean Penn, don’t want to see anyone else win the Oscar next month. We don’t have enough crazy actors nowadays, and if there’s one person who can bring back the crazy, it’s Rourke.
