Now that the curtains have been lifted and the May bout between Ricky Hatton and Manny Pacquiao is moving forward, the Mancunian Candidate isn’t wasting any time hyping up his fight. The thing is, because he’s so genial, most of Hatton’s talking is about how great the Pac Man is, and not how he’s going to demolish him. It’s been a year since the Englishman suffered his first pro defeat at the hands of Floyd Mayweather, Jr., so what up? What can’t this damn Englishman get more up for the fight than…

“It will be an honour to meet Manny, the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world, and I’m brimming full of confidence,” said Hatton. “It’s doesn’t get better than this. I’m the biggest attraction in boxing,” the 30-year-old from Manchester added.

“It’s going to be a cracking fight, if I wasn’t fighting Pacquiao I’d be a fan of his, and Ricky Hatton fights are never dull,” he said.

While we think he’s joking about being the biggest attraction in boxing, there’s still gotta be more bite than this to look forward to. With this new depression hitting us, there’s gotta be more of a storyline than two gentleman boxers going into the ring for fisticuffs. Maybe that’s the way they did it during the Old Depression, but since we don’t get 25 rounds anymore, shit talking before is a must.
