Surprisingly, Carlos Beltran Learns When To Shut The F Up

We like Carlos Beltran, which is surprising considering his propensity to carry wood. But last year he surprised a lot of people when before the season, he decided to open his yap and shit-talk Jimmy Rollins and the eventual champs, the Phillies. Sure it was a blood rival, but out of all the players on the Mets, Beltran was one of the last people we thought would start trouble (Number one on the list? Billy Wagner. Number two? Mr. Met). Well maybe the year-end collapse (again) proved to be a blessing for him because Carlos seems to be singing a different tune as spring training’s around the corner. And that tune seems to be “Please Hammer, Don’t Hurt ‘Em.”
“I just have to say, (the Phillies) did play well. They were champions last year. . . . last year,” says Beltran. “This year is a new year. I still believe we have a great team. If he says those words - when you say words like that, you have to back it up. So he will be watched when he faces the Mets, to see how he does against our team.
Yeah, odds are he’s going to do well. Him, Chase Utley, Ryan Howard… all those guys. Let’s just stop talking, Champ, okay? Let’s worry about Carlos Beltran and his inability to stay healthy for a whole season anymore. Focus on that, and maybe you’ll even reach the playoffs this year.
