It is, admittedly, totally unfair to compare anything to Real Madrid’s spectacular unveiling of Cristiano Ronaldo before 800,000 fans, but Manchester City apparently decided to avoid comparisons altogether by unveiling new acquisition Carlos Tevez in a parking lot after he’d slept in an alley the night before.

Of course, they don’t need all the fancy hoopla when he’s already won the hearts and minds of fans by defecting from rival Man U, but would it have killed them to line up something a little nice for the kids? Look at Ronaldo in all his glory:

And then there’s Tevez.

Wait, an EMPTY STADIUM?  Awesome work here, guys.  Everybody in Public Relations go home early: you’ve earned your money this day.

The Mirror reports that Tevez was “mobbed” by fans, but then provided a bunch of pics that just pretty much show him hanging out with press and a few dozen people behind a rope line. City officials have hinted that he’s not the last big nab of the summer, so we hope they learn their lesson for the next unveiling and invest in a few sparklers or something. And then Real can have 200,000 fans at some huge ceremony introducing their janitorial staff for the season.

A questionable choice of head gear on tevez’s behalf. Could it have hurt to take a shower and perhaps comb the hair a bit?
