On the Launchpad

Afternoon, all of you lovely people. My name is Chris Alonzo and, in case you were wondering, I brought the party with me.

Officially, I’ll be your man when it comes to food and alcohol, arts & entertainment, fun toys, and sexy ladies, though my natural obsessions with politics and basketball will rear their heads often as well. Basically, I’m looking at all of these things together, from a distance, and trying to piece together whatever it means to be a man, particularly an assimilated Latino Man, in this modern day and age. With jokes!

I grew up in San Antonio and went to school at the University of Texas at Austin, and as such I will not even bother to pretend to be objective when it comes to the Spurs or UT football. Currently I live in Bed-Stuy in Brooklyn, NY with my lovely wife, two cats and hundreds of books and CD’s stacked to the ceiling. I play guitar in two awesome bands with my best friends, I own three fedoras, I like my beer hoppy and my wine pretty much lined with dirt. I don’t trust clear liquor.

Outside of here, I write plays and manage a non-profit children’s theater in Manhattan. I ride my bike everywhere I go. If Neil Young wanted to sleep on my couch for three years I’d let him. I am occasionally recklessly indulgent but I’m also a total softie. To wit: I have an enormous tattoo that takes up my entire back. It’s of the Brooklyn Bridge, where I got married. [Ed: Awwwww!]

So hooray! Let the fun begin. It’s all root beer floats and sunshine from here on out.
