Chrysler To Make Fiat 500 In Mexico: 5 Reasons To Buy You Some
17 August 2009, 10:06 AM. By Alejandro Paz
Reports are out that Chrysler is going to begin production of the Fiat 500 in Mexico to release in the United States as early as 2010. Everybody knew when Chrysler got bought out by that Italian company, shit was gonna be different. Chrysler has been known for big 300C “Baby Bentley” type cars recently, but the sea change is on and it appears that Mexicans will be ushering these new little minirides into our lives. Is Fiat making the right call? Yeah, we dunno, but here are Anyguey’s top 5 reasons to buy one.
1. The Fiat 500 is ecofriendly and economical.
Not sure if you’ve heard, but times are tough. Each of green cash and green life is in peril. La Fiat 500 will get all kinds of miles to the gallon with it’s baby 4 cylinder engine pumping out 94 horsepower and ultra low emissions. And it’s cheap too, at around $16Gs.
2. The Fiat 500 is fun to drive.
You could be just like those happy Italians flying about in their pint sized cars. Your everyday commute will become a thrilling go-kart race. High stakes too, because you might get runned over and die.
3.The Fiat 500 is the world’s best city car.
The Fiat 500 was awarded Best City Car in the 2009 Auto Express New Car Awards for the second straight year. Auto Express claims the 500 is “designed to slot into the tightest city spots” and “only a truly special car will be able to take the title from Fiat’s retro masterpiece.”
4.The Fiat 500 makes you look sophisticated rather than meatheaded.
With SUVs regarded as morally reprehensible by the educated elite, buying a Fiat will soon be the trendy choice for the eco-hipster-pseudo thoughtful man about town. The Mini Cooper has lost all counterculture edge and is now a favorite among suburban lesbians. The Smart Car looks like a toy, boasts none of the Fiat 500’s 52 year heritage and is too small inside to get your freak on.
5. The Fiat 500 will get you laid.
You see all those hot ladies sitting on that Fiat because Fiat paid them to? Well they can’t help themselves because this car is cute as a field of wildflowers and bunny rabbits. Or a button. Needless to say, women will be attracted to your Italian oddity and may strike up a conversation. It’s up to you to turn your eco-hipster choice into a win. Or you could do what we do and roll in this:
Tough call. Or not.

but does it look as cool as a smart car?
Does that matter if you can’t get your freak on inside?
I like how Fiat felt the need to hire not one, not two, but ELEVEN models for that shoot. Overcompensating much?
Perhaps if they sold the 5x enlarged version (they built for the auto shows) in The States, they could put a dent in the SUV market!
