Formula One driver Felipe Massa finally made it home to Brazil yesterday, just nine days after a freak accident on the race course left him fighting for his life in Budapest’s AEK hospital. Just a few days out from having pieces of skull removed and the guy is walking and talking and smiling, sporting the beginnings of a huge awesome scar across his forehead. Felipe Massa is the fucking man.

We’ve been following the story of Felipe Massa because we just think it’s incredible that the guy was at death’s door last week, with doctors fighting to relieve the swelling in his brain, but here he is in his little Ferrari uniform being totally charming. Of course, he’s got a massively swollen eye (that was almost permanently damaged in the crash), and a bunch of stitches, but otherwise you’d never know that this guy just had motherfucking brain surgery.

It is worth noting that Massa was going 162 MPH when he was hit with a piece of flying debris. Think about that the next time you’re feeling bad-ass for taking that exit ramp a few miles over the recommended speed limit. The dude took a major impact to the skull while piloting a high-speed deathmobile, and here he is aw-shucksing away for the world to see. Just…wow, man. Wow.

The important thing, though, is that chicks (and, let’s face it, dudes) love scars, and he’s gonna have a great one.

This is the type of spring that struck Felipe Massa. Click on it to see what that does to the human head, even with a fancy helmet on.
