The United States Men’s National Team faces El Tri of Mexico in a World Cup Qualifier at Estadio Azteca in D.F. today in a game that will decide the fate of the world. And/or World Cup qualifying. Tensions are soaring in anticipation for the match between the bitter rivals. The US MNT are especially peeved with nervous energy given the 5-0 defacing their B-Team endured in the Gold Cup Final. So much so in fact, they’ve taken to Twitter and cake decoration to show MEX who’s boss.

This culinary shit talking was posted on the US MNT’s official site and has surely got the Mexicans pissed as fuck. So much so that Univision called the cake “un pastel curioso.” And for you monolinguals, thems is some fighting words! A curious cake INDEED motherfuckers! In your FACE!

The Americans’ contentiousness is in no doubt a reaction to the Thumping In New Jersey last month, but the Mexicans have stoked the fire. Masterful midfielder Andres Guardado said last week:

Of course we will win, 3-0. We have players of high quality and you can see that the team has prepared well, now there is only the question of showing it on the field on Wednesday.

Sheeeeeyot. Look Guardado, your dispassionate assessment of your team’s quality and preparation without any reference to the US MNT is tricky. We know your gangsta connotation has just been lost in translation.

Goalie Guillermo Ochoa followed up with this dirty trash:

(The United States) is a rival of respect, that you must be careful of, but it is a rival we know, whose style we know. We know that physically, and soccer-wise, we are better, so we just have to apply that on the field and do our talking on the field.

Ok ok, he just said they were better. That is BALLSY, Ochoa. You thinking that the team you play for is better than the team you admittedly respect is pretty damn loco. How would you know that!?!

Rest assured, the US players have come back with a vengeance at the less social networky Mexicans. Let’s see them tweet the Mexicans down!

Oh yes! That is some Spanish for: we’re gonna kick El Tri’s dirty asses!!! Or maybe just something like we’re gonna win the game. Let’s see what else we got.

picture-8picture-72Yikes. That’s harsh. Or not. Well, cake baking US Soccer will take the shit talking reins:

picture-9picture-53Oh well!?!?!  D-zamn it sounds like the US is just happy to be there and listen to the Mexicans chant their hearts out. It’s a turn the other cheek, let them eat cake strategy. Will it work?
