Fans Can’t Believe Megan Wants A Millionaire Is Canceled Just Because Ryan Jenkins Killed Somebody

VH1 has moved lightning-quick to completely distance themselves from now-canceled Megan Wants a Millionaire ever since police named contestant Ryan Jenkins as a suspect in the murder of his ex-wife. Fans of the show are hilariously outraged, though, because whatever murder blah blah blah GIVE ME BACK MUH TV SHOW!

To recap: Ryan was a contestant on the VH1 dating show wherein a bunch of millionaires all compete for the shriveled heart of famous-for-some-reason reality show pro Megan Hauserman. The show wrapped filming in March, at which point Ryan had one of those quickie Vegas weddings with swimsuit model Jasmine Fiore (guess he lost?) The marriage was annulled in May, and Jenkins was arrested in June for punching Fiore. She was found last week, strangled and stuffed in a suitcase in a trash bin in Orange County, CA. Jenkins has not been seen since then, and police are at this point assuming that he is on the run, possibly to his native Canada. He is still only being sought as a “person of interest” in the case, but come on.

VH1 acted swiftly by canceling the show, wiping all content from their website and blog, taking the show off iTunes, and removing all re-runs from their schedule. All that remains at this point is a statement on their website and a few assorted MySpace pages. And boy oh boy the fans are lighting up the comments sections on those today!

They are, naturally, reacting with quiet repose, seeing their modern world come into stark relief as the tragic murder of another human being reveals the relative insignificance of a reality show on cable television. Ha ha just kidding. Here are a few choice reactions to the VH1 announcement (with our emphasis in bold):

Why would airing the show have any impact on the current proceedings? This to me makes no sense why we would be cancelling the show because of what this idiot did. We are going to see this idiot every day instead on the local news, so what’s the difference?

I think you should air the rest of the show. Who cares what a contestant did after the show if they were not picked? Don’t start a series and then end it before we get to know what happened. I want to see who won–the other stuff is irrevelant.

why would you do that even if he was cute he still is bad and i liked that show and now i cant watch it for a while. but plz make it air soon

What a tragic set of circumstances and such an awful situation. Nothing about the show had anything to do with it.

I really want to know what is going to happen with the rest of the shows. Will they eventually be aired or is the show scratched forever? Plus, what am I going to watch Sundays at 9?

So here’s a thought…maybe if it continues to air, with a little disclaimer “Have you seen this man?”, more people will know what he looks like and be able to spot him.

We want to know what happens. This makes it even more interesting. And it was so much more entertaining than anything else on your channel or the other stupid bachelor(ette) type shows. Now I guess I have to watch “More to Love,” which is soooo much worse.

The fan reaction on MySpace (Megan’s and the show’s) carries on this way, with some concern shown for Megan’s safety, and also for the future of I Love Money 3, which was also to feature Ryan:

We could obviously give a hoot about this horrible show or it’s horrible “star”, and our hearts go out to this poor victim’s family that has to try to make sense of any of this. And, y’know, just the weird brutal sadness of the way this girl had to die, and the horribleness of any of this type of violence against women. But, frankly, we’re not all that surprised. Looking at VH1’s programming lately we’d be surprised if they didn’t already put “Could Potentially Stuff Ex-Wife’s Body In A Suitcase” in the casting breakdowns. Ooh, maybe that could be a challenge in Tool Academy 3!

Anyway, now we can’t wait for, like, Bill Moyers to shoot his wife or something, so we can check the Frontline message boards for people all, “NOOOOOOO! I wanted to watch the new one about media in Afghanistan this is shite f*ck PBS!!”
