Esai Morales Talks To Us About Caprica At The Austin Film Festival 2009
27 October 2009, 6:48 PM. By Fidel Martinez
Over the weekend, we were able to sit down with actor Esai Morales for an interview at the 16th annual Austin Film Festival. He was in town plugging his new show, Caprica, a prequel to critically acclaimed Battlestar Galactica set to air on SyFy.
Morales talked to us about why you should watch his show, even if you weren’t a fan of Battlestar Galactica. He also did a pretty, damn solid impression of Edward James Olmos, schooled us on the cartoon short Bambi Meets Godzilla, and was even nice enough to let us ask him about La Bamba and his portrayal of one of the most badass characters in latino cinema, Bob Morales. Check out the video below for the interview.

Richiiiiiiiiiiiie!!!! Dude is my hero.
It’s not my first. Or my last.
He was awesome on Jericho. Too bad that show was cancelled. By the way, who’s doing the interview?
I did it. Why, was my big head in the way?
Yeah, that, but I was going to recommend some hair products to help give that Mexi-fro some volume, like Javier from Born in East L.A or something.
Haha, believe it or not, I combed my hair for that interview. Shit, I even put on some pomade in my hair and rocked the pompadour.
Shit, is the pompadour making a comeback with you youngins?
pompadours are, will be, and have been, forever hot.
Hah, that was a great interview. With a character like that Caprica looks more promising.
Oy Esai!!!!!
I fell in love with Esai in La Bamba.. one of my favorite movies.
and i love his name. im seriously naming one of my kids Esai.
“Come on Rosie, take a hit man! Put a little mota in our love life!”
Are you going to pronounce it like he does (Eee-sai) or how it’s pronounced in Spanish (Eh-Sah-EEE)?
Caprica will be awesome, just like Esai!
