picture-1A twisted video has surfaced showing an alleged member of the narco group, Los Zetas, being interrogated and then decapitated by vigilantes. Los Zetas, the armed wing of the Gulf Cartel, is a group founded by former members of the Mexican army, and is now comprised of ex-federal police officers, as well as ex-Kaibiles from Guatemala. The video starts off by claiming the events about to take place are completely real, unlike what the Zetas upload online. The captured man, seen wearing only a pair of underwear and covered in markings referencing the narco group, appears bruised and confesses to a hit he was involved in the Mexican city of Acapulco, Guerrero, where a lawyer, a secretary, and several children were executed.

He talks about how the order for the execution came from above, given out by Heriberto Lazcano Lazcano, the leader of Los Zetas, and then relayed to them by several of their immediate leaders. The man gives out the names of his accomplices, “El Chilango” and “El Borracho”, but claims he himself did not murder anyone, stating that they were the ones who took the victims into a room and executed them. When forcefully pressed by the interrogator, whose face we do not see, he states that he became a member of Los Zetas after this same group murdered his family and forced him to join. Please note that due to its graphic and violent nature, we have omitted the end of the video.

The video ends with the two captors cutting off the head of the alleged narco with a wire. Though we don’t see the full decapitation, we do see a shot of the headless body, followed by a warning to Lazcano saying that he’s next.

While we are not contesting the legitimacy of the video, we do wonder when the video was filmed. After all, the man makes reference to Israel Nava Cortez, also known as “El Ostión”, a lieutenant for Los Zetas that was presumed to be killed on April 2009 in the Mexican state of Zacatecas. Regardless of how new the video is, it shows how some Mexicans are fed up and are taking matters into their own hands. They are responding to the violence inflicted upon them by the cartels with more violence.

It’s just so sad to me that my country has come to this. I love Mexico and it breaks my heart that mi querido país has these animals (both narcos and vigilantes) running free and wreaking havoc. Sure they seem to be targeting one another but violence just breeds more violence. The government and the police lost control of this situation so long ago and this is what the result is. Vigilantes taking out the narcos and the narcos will get these vigilantes and their familes, and their neighbors, and friends…

Well, this is just what I’ve been waiting for… Do we Mexicans want to be push overs and put up with the violence and demands of the narcos like we did with Hacienda owners, or the Spaniards… Mexicans are a polite subdued people that hope for the best but there is only so far they can be pushed… Ask the French. I still won’t travel back to my homeland because of these narcos, but hopefully there are enough vigilantes to put a dent… Or even better yet, let’s see these cabrones make a financial killing when reason overwhelms the power that the Christian Conservative morons here in the U.S. have and get pot legalized. Sigh… These guys are ruthless Al Capones, and when they are so engrained into the government, let the Vigilantes, Robin Hoods or Batmans come in and shed their blood the same way… The obviously care as much about the families they leave behind when they are killed as they do about the families they leave behind when they commit their heinous acts.
