Nicolas Cage is broke. The actor is liquidating properties left and right in order to pay off his debt. He is also suing Samuel J. Levin, his financial adviser, for at least $20 million, claiming that Mr. Levin gave him bad advice that caused him to make poor investments.
Though Cage's financial woes may come as a big surprise to many, we're not entirely shocked. One only needs to look at his acting resume over the past decade or so to see that Cage does not have the best decision making skills. Here's five of his most cringe inducing flicks from that period:
City of Angels (1998)
God damn, this movie was a shitfest. Nic Cage followed up the 1997 balls to the wall Face/Off with this 2 hour snore session. In City of Angels, he plays a loser angel who has the hots for a Meg Ryan. What made this movie even worse was its use of the Goo Goo Dolls' song "Iris" as its theme song.
The Family Man (2000)
The Family Man is about an ultra rich and successful Wall Street banker who wakes up Christmas morning in an alternative reality where he has a wife, two kids, and a house. Though the movie was supposed to be a happy, Christmas miracle story, no one wants to watch a flick about a guy who gives up everything he ever wanted for a live in suburbia.Wind Talkers (2002)
If it's a war movie, we'll watch it, especially if it's about World War II. We were particularly excited about Wind Talkers because its main focus was supposed to be the Navajo Marines who used their native language as an uncrackable code. Instead, what we get is a white man saving the Navajo characters all the damn time, making him the hero of the story.
Ghost Rider (2007)
Making a movie based on a comic book is a hit or miss endeavor. Sometimes the final product is widely lauded as an achievement, as was the case with The Dark Knight (2008). Most times, however, you get something like Ghost Rider, a movie about a stuntman who sells out to the devil and must fight to regain his soul. This film was all kinds of awful, and not even the gorgeous Eva Mendes could salvage this steaming pile of shit.Bangkok Dangerous (2008)
Bangkok Dangerous is a movie about a hitman and the last four kills of his career. Unfortunately for us, we discover that he's an assassin with a heart of gold who falls in love with a local girl. We're big fans of Nicolas Cage action movies, but even we couldn't stomach watching this movie in its entirety. What do you think?

You forgot The Weather Man, Next, Knowing, National Treasure 1 & 2, The Wicker Man, Captain Corelli's Mandolin
ReplyKnowing was pretty entertaining. As per the others, the list was just a sample. If we were to list every bad movie he's been in, we'd be here all day.
ReplyKnowing was entertaining? Hmmmm
Replysaw it at the dollar movies, so yeah, i'd say it was worth ONE of my dollars.
ReplyLike all the others that make it in hollywood and sit in their backyard sipping wine and toasting to how rich they are and saying "I wonder how the poor are doing tonight?" At which they do! The ones that fixate on themselves are the ones that go belly-up everytime. Nicholas Cage, Lensie Lohan, Paris Hilton, Scarlett Johansson,Kate Hudson and so on. In their mind it's all about me-me-me and what else will people do to look at me and spend payday advance loans on me so I can live a easy and non-working life. Great going people supporting these low lifes that think of themselves and what can they get by doing the least amount of anything.
