UPDATE: The following image showing Salvador Cabañas after he was shot has been circulating on Twitter. Cabañas was drinking at a locale called Bar Bar Insurgentes. The place is allegedly a classy and exclusive joint. He is currently hospitalized at Hospital Angeles Del Pedregal.
UPDATE: Cabañas is having surgery to remove the bullet lodged in his head. Club America president Michel Bauer denies rumors that Cabañas is brain dead. Bauer stated that the Paraguayan was conscious when he was taken to the hospital.
Wow. Simply wow. Paraguayan Salvador Cabañas, striker for Mexican Club America, was shot in the head around 5:30 AM this morning at a bar in Mexico City. There was no exit wound. The 29-year-old was taken to a local hospital. Cabañas' condition remains critical, and he's fighting for his life. There are conflicting reports concerning the nature of the confrontation. Some are reporting that Cabañas was shot after a bar fight, but Televisa Deportes is stating that he was shot in the bathroom after an attempted robbery. Given the fact that Televisa owns Club America, we're inclined to believe their version of the story since they would be privy to that kind of information. The two men involved are currently detained, authorities say. Cabañas is an integral part of the Paraguayan national soccer team that qualified for the 2010 World Cup. We'll be bringing you more as the story develops.

"Wow" is right. Wow! Pobre cito. I hope he makes a full recovery.
ReplyI can't believe how much he looks like Oscar de La Olla in that picture.
Replyit is really unclear as to what happened, you know the Mexican media, police and ministeriales are a bunch of liars. The truth may never be known.
