Spurs Send Threatening Letter To Site About Naked George Hill Pics. Site's Lawyer Responds. Hilarity Ensues

Are you a bench player in an NBA team wanting to increase your profile? Take a naked picture of yourself and make sure it ends up on the internet! First it was Greg Oden who showed off his wang to the world, and now it's the San Antonio Spurs' very own George Hill.  The photos were sent to an ex-lover who after being spited, we're sure, turned them over--along with several sext messages-- to The Dirty for some good ol' mockery. The scorned woman also provides the following not-so-flattering account about her sexual encounters with Hill in which she brings up his deficiencies as a lover:

He is a quick nut as he says...lame in the sack & loves to eat but isnt [sic] really good at it. Only thing he can do is finger which is sad.

Talk about a real ego-bruiser. The anonymous tipster then goes on to explain her motive for ridiculing The One-Minute Man:

I'm just so tired of hearing how he's a good guy & in reality he's a jerk, a liar & a cheat & then on his myspace tagged pic a [sic] under aged girl tagged him in a pic where she met him & her friend commented "girl you are so lucky, don't worry I'll keep your secret" WTF?

You see, George Hill? If you didn't talk so much game and possibly commit statutory rape, none of this would have happened to you! Predictably, lawyers representing the San Antonio Spurs sent Nik Richie, the owner of the site, a cease and desist letter demanding that all the images be removed and that they compensate the Spurs for the legal fees incurred. Instead of cowering in fear, however, David Gingras--Richie's lawyer-- responded with a letter of his own in which he argues that "trademark law does not apply to criticism of celebrities making fools of themselves." Then he goes on and takes a huge dump on San Antonio Spurs fans for good measure:

I realize that NBA fans in the San Antonio area may not be so sophisticated, particularly if any of them have opted to support Mr. Hill and the Spurs rather than the undeniably-superior Dallas Mavericks (excluding Shawn Marion who hasn't been the same since he left Phoenix). However, insofar as the Lanham Act is concerned, I am confident that even the least sophisticated websurfer in San Antonio would understand that www.TheDirty.com is not using Mr. Hill's name or image to falsely imply that he endorses anything about the site.

The final blow is delivered when the sharp-tongued attorney points out that The Spurs are only making things worse by going after them:

Removing these images from our site will not undo the past, nor will litigation further your client's goals given the clear application of the "Streisand effect" to these types of cases.
