White Supremacists To Boycott Thor Over Black Actor Playing "White" God

A white nationalist group called the Council of Conservative Citizens will boycott the forthcoming cinematic adaptation of longstanding Marvel Comic hero Thor because the black, English actor Idris Elba (The Big C) is playing the Norse god, Heimdall.

The CoCC, which supports a large variety of conservative and paleoconservative causes including white separatism, says in a press release, "It's not enough that Marvel attacks conservatives values, now mythological Gods must be re-invented with black skin." Now, technically, the group does have a point. Heimdall, Thor, and all the residents of Valhalla were the creation of ancient Norse peoples hailing from Scandinavia, where, we have it on good authority, very few people are, in fact, black.

Glossing over the fact that a staunchly Christian group like the CoCC probably shouldn't be paying all that much attention to the portrayal of false, pagan gods, they are correct in their assertion that past Marvel movies from X-Men to Ghost Rider have been rife with progressive themes and anti-conservative prejudices. (The X-Men fight racial hatred, Johnny Blaze gets his powers from Satan, etc.)

The release concludes, "It seems that Marvel Studios believes that white people should have nothing that is unique to themselves." Indeed, if the producers of "Thor" have their way, white people will have no Marvel characters to call their own. Well except for Spider-man, Iron Man, Ghost Rider, The Fantastic Four, Captain America, Wolverine, all the original X-Men, The Hulk, Green Goblin, Kingpin, Doctor Octopus, Black Widow, Ant Man, Man-Thing, Sabertooth, The Blob, The Silver Surfer, all the original Avengers, Wasp, Vulture, Colossus, Doc Sampson, Magneto, Daredevil, Galactus, The Punisher, Venom, Mary-Jane Watson, Elektra, Captain Britain, She-Hulk, Sandman, Sub Mariner, Nick Fury, Deadpool, The Watcher, The Eternals, Doctor Doom, Black Knight, Captain Marvel, Silver Sable, Mystique, Nightcrawler, Shadowcat, and Doctor Strange.
