Mexican and Manchester United star Javier "Chicharito" Hernández has responded to BBC's Top Gear's controversial comments about Mexicans in a much more polite and dignified way than we would have.
The copy on his new Powerade ad reads: "Yes, imagine waking up and remembering you're Mexican. Less prejudice. More exercise." The statement is a direct response to Top Gear host Richard Hammond's comment, "I'm sorry, but just imagine waking up and remembering you're Mexican." Hammond grimaced in disgust at the sheer thought. It was just part of a segment in which Hammond and his co-hosts insulted Mexican food, Mexican people and the Mexican ambassador, with a studio audience laughing the entire time.
Props to the striker and Powerade/Coca-Cola for taking a stance.
