Russell Crowe recently spoke out against male circumcision via Twitter, calling the practice "barbaric and stupid." We've noticed a definite trend away from circumcision in this country, but we're curious if other Latinos in the United States are feeling the same.

Traditionally in Latin American countries, (and most countries outside the U.S., for that matter), male circumcision is largely not done. But in the United States, it's another matter entirely. In our experience, ahem, the more Americanized a family is, the more likely they are to circumcise their male babies. Whether it's for religious reasons, (Crowe took his comments down from Twitter after his rant ventured into criticizing Jews.), or just aesthetic ones, most Americans at this point in history are more used to seeing a cut penis than not.

But that trend seems to be on the wane. We personally have friends who have chosen not to circumcise their sons because of the more recently popular stance that it's damaging to the child's psyche and medically unnecessary. Do you agree with that assessment? Take our poll and let us know where you stand on circumcision.

I think they should keep their foreskin. If they think they're better suited cut when they get older then they can make that decision when they can make that decision on their own.
